The Legacy of Charlie Kirk


 As I'm sure you are already aware...public speaker, defender of the truth, beloved husband and father, and brother in Christ, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated two weeks ago today. His death is very tragic and my heart breaks for his young family he left behind. Please, please be in prayer for them daily as they grieve this unexpected and devastating loss. Disasters like this make us pause and ask..."Why would God allow this to happen?" We can't comprehend the mind of God, but we do know that He is good and therefore His plans are always, only good. This did not take Him by surprise - He lovingly orchestrated this to fulfill His will and, I know, guided Charlie Kirk in his last moments with His loving, almighty hand. The world is grieving Charlie Kirk's loss right now, but we as Christians can rejoice because we trust that Jesus was His personal Savior and that he is rejoicing in His presence right now, free of sin and the cares of the world, and has reached true, forever peace at last. Evil seems to have won for the present, but in reality Charlie really is the victor as his spirit lives on forever in God's presence. "For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom; they shall be brought out on the day of wrath." (Job 21:30) "Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors." (Psalm 73:19) "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4) "So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory. O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?"" (1 Corinthians 15:54-55)

I actually did not listen to Charlie Kirk a whole lot, but mainly knew him by name. I have been greatly encouraged as I've learned more about him since his death, that he really had a strong faith and was not ashamed to stand for Jesus and truth. May his legacy live on and encourage many to stand boldly and courageously for God and right. I heard someone say, "May we be bold for what Charlie died for."
Charlie Kirk's death has really affected me, and I've been thinking over the question of why I have been mourning so greatly for one I didn't know personally or even keep up with socially. I think there are three main reasons why his death has greatly affected me and so many others who only knew him by name: 1)The tragicness of his assassination 2) His young age and family left behind 3) He was a brother in Christ. The Bible describes believers as being members of one body. Just as the whole physical body suffers when a member is cut off, so the whole spiritual body of Jesus suffers when a member is cut off.

Let us also be praying for justice to be served to the shooter, Tyler Robinson. The Bible says, "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man." (Genesis 9:6) "For he(government rulers) is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for He is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil." (Romans 13:4) I pray that the Utah government deals to this young man what he dealt to Charlie Kirk. But let us pray for Tyler Robinson that he would turn from his sins and receive Jesus as his Savior before he has to reckon with his Maker and Judge...I think Charlie Kirk would be the first one to urge us to do this. 


I watched most of Charlie Kirk's memorial service Sunday and I was so encouraged by the gospel being the center of it all. (If you did not watch it, I would highly recommend that or reading through the highlights of each person's speech. LifeNews has a very good post on the highlights from the speeches) The most powerful moment to me was when Erika Kirk publicly forgave Tyler Robinson for taking her husband's life. It was a very moving demonstration of Christ's command to forgive as we have been forgiven.✝️
Jenna Ellis, a conservative podcaster I listen to, said recently on her show that she had asked John MacArthur back in 2020 if he thought America was too far gone for revival and if we are seeing the end of the age approaching. He replied with, "The history of civilization comes in cycles. When you're at a low point, one of two things happen: either it will be the end of all things or we will see a revival." I do not know if we are seeing the end or a revival but I am praying that God will use this tragic deed man meant for evil and turn it into good...turn it into a revival that would cause the American people to wake up, repent of their sins, and turn to God in faith so that we would once more be one nation under God. Charlie Kirk has impacted way more people since his death than he ever did in his lifetime and may that fire continue to grow and get brighter and brighter!

The moment of death may come at any time for each one of us. Let us be reminded and encouraged to take up the armor of God and serve Him diligently so that we may hear one day..."Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." I believe Charlie Kirk heard this, and may we be faithful to hear it as well. "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." -Hebrews 12:1-2
