Happy Birthday Reagan!πΊπΈ
Today marks the anniversary of the 115th birthday of President Ronald Reagan. He was one of America's greatest presidents, outspoken for faith and freedom, and one of my favorite actors(his movies are the best!). I wanted to make this post today and honor his memory. Here are several of his quotes:
"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
"It's been written that the most sublime figure in American history was George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge. He personified a people who knew that it was not enough to depend on their own courage and goodness, that they must also seek help from God - their Father and preserver. Where did we begin to lose sight of that noble beginning, of our conviction that standards of right and wrong do exist and must be lived up to? Do we really think that we can have it both ways, that God will protect us in a time of crisis even as we turn away from Him in our day to day life?"
"Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged."
"I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts."
"Inside the Bible's pages lie the answers to all the problems that mankind has ever known. I hope Americans will read and study the Bible."
"It was the hard work of our people, the freedom they enjoyed and their faith in God that built this country and made it the envy of the world. In all of our great cities and towns evidence of the faith of our people is found: houses of worship of every denomination are among the oldest structures. While never willing to bow to a tyrant, our forefathers were always willing to get to their knees before God. When catastrophe threatened, they turned to God for deliverance. When the harvest was bountiful the first thought was thanksgiving to God."
"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it, and then hand it to them with the well fought lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same. And if you and I don’t do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free."
"Abraham Lincoln once said, 'I would be the most foolish person on this footstool earth if I believed for one moment that I could perform the duties assigned to me without the help of One who is wiser than all.' I know that in the days to come and the years ahead there are going to be many times when there will only be one set of footprints in my life. If I did not believe that, I could not face the days ahead.”
"Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty’s lamp guiding your steps and opportunity’s arm steadying your way."
