Alabama Trip!πŸš™☺️

The third weekend of April, my parents and Sarah and I made a trip to Auburn, Alabama. John has been temporarily living down there for the past two months to be closer to his girlfriend, Lydia Craft, and her family. There were kinda three reasons that took us there...of course, to visit with John and Lydia and her family, and then Dad recently discovered a small family cemetery outside of Atlanta GA(which is just about two hours from where Lydia lives) and he wanted to go back and clean it up a little. Lastly, there was going to be a concert in the area that Friday night by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. I started listening to them about a year ago and instantly fell in love with their music. This concert would be the first time for me to see them in person...I will be honest and say that was the main reason I wanted to take the trip.πŸ˜‰
Packed and ready to go Thursday early afternoon!

We got to Auburn about 10:30 that evening. It's about an 8-9 hour drive.

Friday morning Dad and Mom headed to the family cemetery in GA and then Lydia took us girls shopping in Auburn and Opelika. I think we hit about every thrift store!πŸ˜„ We had tons of fun.
We got lunch at Whataburger and took it out to John's workplace and had a picnic lunch.
Friday evening - the concert!!!!😱😍
Ernie Haase and Signature Sound were doing a joint concert with Gold City Quartet that night. Both groups came out and sang a couple songs together, then each group did about 40 minutes of singing.
It was so amazing, yet normal to hear them in person. I've watched so many of their dvd concerts that it felt like I was sitting in my livingroom watching them on my tv like usual.😁
Their signature moves on Swingin' On The Golden Gates.🀩
At intermission, we went to meet them at their table. They were so friendly in person and it was such a blessing to talk to them! Ernie Haase is in the picture above.
Their baritone singer, Doug Anderson. These two guys(Ernie and Doug) are legends in Southern Gospel music so I can't tell you how much it meant to us to meet them!
Both groups came back after intermission and sang the second half together. To say that it was an incredible night would be the understatement of the century! EHSS have a special touch from the Lord and they deliver their music in a way that no other group I know of does. These guys love singing for the Lord and you can tell! Their music has inspired me incredibly and gotten me through the worst and best times of my life in the past year, so it was a very exciting and emotional experience to hear them in concert/meet them. I was on cloud 9 for a while!!😁☁️9️⃣
Saturday found Mom, Sarah, and I doing some more shopping in the area while Dad and John went back to the cemetery. We had a dinner that evening with the Craft family.
We went to church with the Crafts Sunday morning, had a lunch with them, then headed for Arkansas. We took this picture before we left.

We got back around 11pm that night. It was a great trip! I loved that part of AL and it was sad to leave.πŸ₯²

Several days later, we got this picture and exciting news...she said YES!!!πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ₯° Let the wedding plans begin.😁😁😁

  1. Grace - what an exciting post! I'm really happy ya'll got to see EHSS live and in person! What an experience! Did they sing any of your special-favorite songs?

I'm also glad ya'll got to have that sweet visit with Lydia, John, and her family before he popped the question. So, so happy for them, and for you to gain a precious sister!

    1. Yes, two songs were especially favorites...Sinner Saved By Grace and Oh What A Savior. That last one is a song that Ernie Haase is noted for singing so it was super special to be in the audience he was singing it to.😍
